Don’t Count Yourself Out In 2018

New Year Loading copy

It’s December!! That means “new year, new me” posts and new years resolutions and all the hype about the new year. You may be one to count on the new year to bring better days, more money, and a new start or you may hate every social media status about the upcoming year, but let’s be real – the new year is coming and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. The best thing to do is to take a new mindset into 2018 and don’t count yourself out of the things you’re capable of.

I have never been the person to make new years resolutions, but this year I opted for “2018 goals” instead. Of course I had goals for this year, but they weren’t necessarily in place for the new year. They kinda came as they came and got accomplished as they got accomplished. This year I’m taking a new approach to accomplishing my goals and I challenge you to do the same. How do you begin to count yourself in? How you develop these goals? Here’s a start:

  1. Humble Yourself – Now this may seem cliche’ but let’s face it, people can get so caught up in what they “deserve” or what belongs to them that they forget their purpose. They forget how far they’ve come and they forget that everything doesn’t always go the way we want them but they usually turn out for the best. So be patient, take the good with the bad and keep it moving.
  2. GO FOR IT! – We get so caught up in what we want to do and what we’re going to do that we don’t just do it. One of my biggest goals for 2017 was to start my blog. I wrote it down, I talked about it, I researched it, I set TWO launch dates and here I am. It’s a random day in December and I’m finally DOING it! (yay me) It’s one thing to talk about something, but its not beneficial unless you’re doing it!
  3.  Say Less – Everybody who is supposed to be for you will not always support you in the ways you need them. It isn’t fair, but life isn’t fair. Family, friends, and coworkers all will say they support you when they are really praying on your downfall. Sometimes you have to keep things to yourself and thats ok.
  4. Give yourself a break – Sometimes deadlines won’t be met, goals will change, motives will change, and people will change, that doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you except maybe you’re growing. Nobody ever said growing and learning would be easy so just try to enjoy the ride. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Bringing in the new year can be as big or small as your want it to be. Some people want to become a completely new person January 1 and for some it’ll just be another day. Make yours what you want it to be, but make it yours. Make it fun and fulfilling and different. Laugh more, spend more time with your family, get to know yourself. Set your goals, stick to them and be great.

Until next time…

  1. I love this!! I decided not to talk about my 2018 goals with people..not because they’re unrealistic but everthing don’t always go as planned and I really can’t take the criticism or whatever Society say I need to do or have done. I can’t wait for the next post!

    1. Thanks!! and yes!! everyone won’t believe in what you’re doing but that doesn’t mean don’t do it, it just means move in silence and let it work out of the best. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least you tired. When you look back, you won’t be able to say you didn’t try

  2. I ❤ this! I’ve most definitely learned that you can’t share your dream with everyone but that should never stop the hustle. My goal for 2017 was simply to live my best life in my present circumstances & I think I have. Now, I’m looking forward to flourishing even more in 2018!
